Salads are full of beneficial nutrients for your skin.

May is National Salad Month, and AlluraDerm MD Med Spa is taking the chance to tell you about a healthy skin secret: your diet!

Making leafy greens and other veggies a major part of your diet is a relatively simple way to improve your skin health and help maintain the results of your chemical peel, microdermabrasion or any skin treatment you had at our Albuquerque medical spa.

Eat a Nutrient-Rich, Healthy Skin Salad

According to The Healthy Skin Diet, by Karen Fischer, salads contain alkalizing foods that make your skin glow. Too many acidic foods give the appearance of dull, dry skin.

What ingredients should you add to your salad for healthy skin? You aren’t just limited to iceberg lettuce. Try 2 cups of greens like arugula, spinach or baby kale for a nutrient-rich salad that is sure to brighten your complexion.

You can also add healthy skin foods like:

  • Avocado
  • Almonds
  • Fresh lemon or lime
  • Apple cider vinegar

Omega-3 healthy fats are essential to your skin’s health. Avocado contains plenty of these; so do nuts and seeds like flaxseed and walnuts. Some other healthy veggies to add include cucumber, carrots, squash and zucchini.

For the month of May, why not try to add one salad per day to your diet? Try it for 2 weeks and see if you notice the difference in your skin!
