All about Dermaplaning
If you check the AlluraDerm MD Med Spa website regularly (we have great specials on our home page!) you may have noticed that we are offering a new treatment: dermaplaning.
Age and sun exposure slow down cell turnover—basically, your skin’s natural exfoliation. That means fresh cells become buried under dead cells, robbing you of glowing, youthful skin.
Dermaplaning removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, allowing cells underneath to renew and reveal fresh new skin.
How Does Dermaplaning Work?
As we age, cell turnover decreases, so it’s helpful to get a boost with our skincare regime. Regular exfoliation helps, but dermaplaning goes deeper to treat signs of aging.
Dermaplaning is performed with a patented surgical blade that is stroked along the skin at a 45 degree angle, similar to shaving.
Who is a Good Candidate for Dermaplaning?
If you have dull, dry, congested skin, you are a good candidate for dermaplaning. These issues are caused by the surface barrier of dead skin cells that prevent your topical skincare from penetrating your skin.
Impurities are also trapped under the skin when there is a barrier of cells. Dermaplaning decongests the skin and allows better absorption of your skincare products.
What is Dermaplaning Like?
Our dermaplaning treatment consists of three phases: dermaplaning, a chemical peel, and cryogenic therapy that increases cell turnover. You can come in for a dermaplaning treatment every three to four weeks. We recommend 4 to 6 procedures per year to see continual results.
