Learn more about BOTOX® Cosmetic in Albuquerque

Scientists in Canada have made an exciting discovery involving BOTOX® Cosmetic. When it comes to anti-aging, it turns out the drug might do more than just relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles. In a study published recently in the journal JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, scientists say the drug may also rejuvenate the skin itself by improving elasticity and pliability, the hallmarks of a youthful complexion.

Researchers conducted their study because they wanted to know why BOTOX veterans seem to enjoy a reduction in overall wrinkle levels with repeated treatments. Close to 4 dozen women with a mean age of 55 took part in the study. They were treated for wrinkles around the eyes. During the course of treatment, researchers say the participants’ skin became more elastic and that this effect lasted for a few months after the BOTOX wore off.

As a physician who performs more BOTOX treatments than any other provider in New Mexico, I am fascinated by the growing list of the treatment’s benefits. We already know that BOTOX helps people who have chronic migraines, excessive sweating, urinary incontinence, and muscle spasms, to name a few things.

Although more research needs to be done, this latest discovery fills me with hope that BOTOX can further improve lives by doing what wrinkle creams cannot — rejuvenate the skin from the inside out.
